Halo! Selamat datang! (Hi! Welcome!)
For the uninformed, my name is Susanti and I came from Jakarta, Indonesia. Yap, beautiful Indonesia. Famous for marvelous beaches, such as Bali, Lombok, Bunaken and the list goes on.. I am currently having fun studying in Edith Cowan University (ECU), taking Bachelor of Communications major in Advertising and Public Relations.
I thought ECU would be perfect for me because it offers wide range of courses and a really flexible choice of majors and various interesting units for communication students, and I was right. I love the things that I’m studying, the atmosphere and the people. Participating Google Challenge under Integrated Marketing Communications unit, I am currently working with three awesome team mates for this competition- Elliot, Kat and Bob. They are taking this unit externally, leaving me as the only one who is taking the unit on campus. I am the smallest (in size), the youngest, and (…) .. fill in the blank guys! Haha. I absolutely love them, and I feel so lucky that I came across and have an opportunity to work with these amazing people.
It has been three months since I came here, and I find it fun and easy to adapt. Surrounded with really helpful and nice team mates and academic staffs, I couldn’t ask for more. It is an amazing opportunity for me to work with my Ozzy team mates, they’ve got really fresh and insightful point of view and the willingness to work hard and give it all- something that I can definitely learn from. I really love my team and I feel that we are working very well together. Every opinion counts, every voice is heard. We do not criticize or blame, we give positive reinforcement and feedback to each other.
Google Challenge has given me so much to learn and I’m thankful that I’ve made the right decision to jump in the competition. We are committed and working hard to exceed our client’s expectations by monitoring, communicating and amend the AdWords campaign on a scheduled daily basis. We learn from each other, and I will certainly remember this wonderful experience.
My family and friends are really excited knowing that I have joined the competition. Some of my friends are supporting me from the distance by following through the blog and facebook page that I have set up for the team. Thanks matess!
Well, I have to say that the funniest reaction came from mom and sister. When I told them during Skype video call, mom didn’t fully understand (she’s not an online person, haha) and my sister was completely excited- so it was a bit of a mix. When mom kept asking what it’s all about and my sister was busy babbling of how great it is, I could only laughed. They were amazed of the opportunities of the Google Challenge could bring, and the prize to visit Google headquarters in California is just mind blowing. My sister has been a real fan of Google as she is studying Information System, so she was really amazed (and jealous of course).
Since the campaign commences, I got a bit busy as we have to conference call via Skype every night (yes, weekends included) to discuss about the campaign. As the conversation could go up to three hours and I have another three units to learn, I haven’t really talk to my family in these two weeks, but will definitely catch up afterwards. Thank you mom and sisters for the kind support and understanding.. Love ya!
